Help Simon Rosenberg's "Hopium Chronicles" reach 50,000 Subscribers
I was phonebanking for Tom Suozzi late in the afternoon on election day. I did a couple of hours and it was approaching 6:30 pm so I figured I’d hang it up for the day. But then I got an email from Simon Rosenberg’s Hopium Chronicles Substack, with a new post, Polls Are Open Until 9pm EST in NY-3 - Can You Make Some Calls???? So I went back to the app and made calls until about 8:40 pm. Some of them didn’t know polls were open until 9:00 and would try to vote, another was working late but would try to make it.
Simon also inspired me to make calls in the recent Florida election won by Democrat Tom Keen, which I wrote about here in A call for Tom Keen in the FL Special Election just now made my day.
That’s the inspiration I get from Hopium Chronicles. Rosenberg is the Democratic strategist who almost alone among pundits, pollsters, et al. correctly predicted there would be no “red wave” in November 2022.
Hopium now has 43,000 subscribers and has a goal to reach 50,000 by March 31. His post today, More Performance Problems for Trump and MAGA In South Carolina is a good example of his approach, which I refer to as “pragmatic optimism.” His analyses are always data driven, going far beyond and often opposing, the facile MSM analysis. These bullet points from today’s post show the range of his recent activity.

Simon recommends two main strategies: (1) Becoming “information warriors” — mass numbers of us disseminating facts to show “With Democrats Things Get Better.” and (2) A national young voter registration drive. (Something I have written about frequently here.)
